Inclusive Sexuality and Communication Education

ETK Training is dedicated to enriching the lives of people with and without disabilities through empowerment education, training and support. This includes workshops and education directly for individuals, as well as supporting staff and families with communication skills, sexual self-advocacy and increased independence.

Emily is a sexuality educator and trainer. For 20 years, Emily has been providing training on a wide variety of topics, including supporting LGBTQ+ youth in schools, special education parent advocacy, transition services for teens, the basics of neurodiversity, transracial parenting, and trauma informed practices. Emily was a foster parent for 10 years and is a parent of children that need extra supports. Emily believes in both doing the work and helping others do the work as well. Autonomy, dignity of risk and self-love are at the core of Emily's beliefs and training philosophy. In addition to being a mom and trainer, Emily loves spending time with her pets and reading.
Education gives people the knowledge, skills and confidence to make informed decisions about their bodies, personal relationships, employment relationships, health and sexual health. This leads to safer and more informed individuals and communities. It’s not just about preventing risks- it’s about promoting overall well-being, respect and empowerment. Classes are adapted to meet the needs of students of all abilities and accommodate individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities.
Sexuality and identity is an important part of who we are as human beings. Belonging and care are fundamental human needs. That is true for all: people with and without disabilities and differening needs. Regardless of the role we play in someone's life: parent, sibling, agency staff, agency administrator, it's important to know that we can be a bridge or we can be a barrier. Let's be a bridge together!

Emily saw a community need for increased natural socialization opportunities for neurodiverse teens in a safe, supportive environment. From this need, Emily worked to create a weekly Dungeons and Dragons Club with a DM who supports all teens. It's a loud and chaotic good time! $50/month
In this work, I get personal disclosures from clients about hurt or abuse they have experienced while in care. It can be difficult, and I take that responsibility to heart.
